London -  A Sikh in the UK stabbed his cousin to death after he was caught drinking by his family during a conversation with them on Skype.

Kanwarjeet Singh Batth, 24, had called his family in India through Skype when he and his cousin had gone to attend wedding celebrations of his friend, The Daily Mail reports.

Batth thought his aunt had photographed him drinking whiskey during the video conversation, which he claimed would have embarrassed him and his mother if she saw it, was revealed  during the investigation.

Batth stabbed his cousin Opinderpal Singh Randhawa, 23, to death who said that everybody in India knew that he drank and asked what was the big deal about it, a guest at the celebration  said during the investigation.

Batth fled after the incidence in December 2010, and is still absconding.

His cousin Randhawa later died in hospital.

A post mortem examination reported that he died due to hemorrhage of an arterial blood vessel due to a stab wound.

Batth was believed to have left the UK after the incident without his passport, which the police have. Officers think he could be hiding in Europe.
