Mehterlam (Afghanistan) - Five Afghan soldiers were killed and two others sustained injuries in Laghman province 90 east of capital city Kabul on Sunday as a roadside bomb struck a military vehicle, a military spokesman in the eastern region Sediq Atifi said Monday.
"The gruesome incident happened in Alishing district when a roadside bomb planted by insurgents struck a military vehicle Sunday afternoon leaving five soldiers dead and injuring two others," Atifi told Xinhua.
He also put the attack on the anti-government insurgents opposing peace, a term used by officials against Taliban militants. However, Taliban outfit that launched its spring offensive dubbed "Al-Farooq" from May 3 this year is yet to make comment.
