Ailing ex-Egyptian President Mubarak 'slipping in and out of consciousness'

Cairo -  Ousted Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak's health has deteriorated further.

According to The Guardian, Mubarak is slipping in and out of consciousness and is being fed liquids intravenously.

Officials at the Torah Prison hospital, where the former leader is serving a life sentence, said that doctors had to use a defibrillator twice on Mubarak, but did not say whether his heart had  stopped, or if he had suffered from irregular heartbeats.

According to Egyptian officials, Mubarak's health has deteriorated sharply since he was convicted on 2 June for failing to prevent the killings of hundreds of protesters during the uprising  that removed him from power last year.

Mubarak's wife, Suzanne, demanded that he be transferred to a better-equipped hospital.
