New York - US stocks opened higher Friday as investors are hoping that global central banks will push more easing policies in the future.
The Dow Jones industrial average gained 58.50 points, or 0.46 percent, at 12,710.41. The Standard & Poor's 500 was up 4.89 points, or 0.38 percent, to 1,334.19. The Nasdaq Composite Index rose 6.30 points, or 0.22 percent, to 2,842.74, Xinhua reported.
Such performance came after the US Labor Department said Thursday that the Consumer Price Index of the country declined 0.3 percent last month, the sharpest drop since December 2008.
The Bank of England and the British Exchequer announced Thursday they would offer billions of pounds in cheap loans to British banks so as to "inject confidence" into the financial system.
At the same time, the Bank of Japan provided no new easing, keeping its overnight call rate unchanged.
Investors believed that the US Federal Reserve will push for a new round of stimulus plan in the near future, together with other central banks, to inject confidence into markets.
