Queen more popular now than ever in glorious 60-year reign

London - An unprecedented nine out of 10 Britons believe that Queen Elizabeth II she is doing a remarkable job, a survey poll showed.

Moreover, eight out of 10 Britons are satisfied with Prince Charles, his highest ever approval-rating, while even more support Prince William and his wife, the Duchess of Cambridge.

The amazing display of loyalty to the Royal Family is another blow for their critics. Just 15 per cent British voted to bring in a republic, while an overwhelming 77 per cent want the monarchy to remain.

The level of popularity could be seen when the Queen’s triumphant visits to towns and cities across the UK saw her welcomed by huge crowds.

During a recent visit to Nottingham, she was astonished to find 35,000 well-wishers at the City Hall to greet her and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

It has been observed that since the Royal Wedding, the publicity the Royal Family has received has been phenomenal

“Ratings this high for the Queen and the Royal Family are unprecedented. Since the Royal Wedding the publicity the Royal Family has received has been phenomenal, particularly for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, but stories of the Queen in the build-up to the Jubilee have clearly touched the hearts of the British public,” a spokesman for pollsters Ipsos Mori, which carried out the survey, said.

The poll revealed an amazing transformation for the Royal Family since the dark days of the Nineties, when support plunged to an all-time low following the death of Princess Diana in 1997.

The satisfaction level with the Queen and Prince Charles were seen plummeting to 66 per cent and 59 per cent respectively just six months after her funeral.

In 1997 just four in 10 approved of Prince Charles, in comparison to 78 per cent, who are in favour of him being crowned King now.

The number of people saying that he should surrender his claim to the throne has gone down to 36 per cent, its lowest level since 2001, following his touching tribute to “Mummy” during the Jubilee concert.

Moreover, Prince William’s approval ratings are neck-and-neck with the Queen’s, with 89 per cent satisfied with his work as the Duke of Cambridge.

“This poll is excellent news and continues to reinforce how important the Queen and the monarchy are to the country and the whole fabric of society,” Staunch Royalist and father-of-two Tom Brunt, 35, of Whitchurch, Hants said.

“Their value to the nation is immeasurable and these approval ratings are merely a reflection of the unswerving loyalty and selfless dedication the Royal Family gives to this great nation of ours.”
