Washington - A tweet posted by an American newspaper columnist stating, 'I hope the girls whose boyfriends died to save them were worthy of the sacrifice' in the 'Dark Knight' shooting tragedy, has sparked off outrage.
James Taranto, who writes for the Wall Street Journal, made the remark in response to a story in the New York Post stating that three young men used their bodies as shields and took the bullets from Batman obsessed killer James Holmes intended for their loved ones.
According to News.com.au, Taranto's comment was met with outrage and fury.
"To their boyfriends, they were. I guess that's what really matters," said a twitter user.
"Thank god you weren't there, the Heroes would still save you, but would YOU be worth it? Honestly. Think before you speak," wrote another user.
According to the report, another twitter user slammed Taranto for his comments calling him 'disgusting'.
"Wow. Apparently, you have no soul" and "Sounds like a true coward" tweeted another user.
