Islamabad - Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari, after taking serious note of the report of the arrest of an 11-year-old mentally challenged Christian girl in Islamabad on charges of blasphemy, has called for a report from the Interior Ministry.
According to reports, a Christian girl named Rifta Masih, was arrested for burning pages from the Holy Quran. Enraged locals bashed up Rifta, her mother and sister, and also set houses of Christian families on fire, reports The News.
Zardari said no one would be allowed to misuse blasphemy law for settling personal scores.
Spokesperson Senator Farhatullah Babar said Zardari has called for the report within 24 hours and has directed the authorities to protect the life and property of every one and that no one should be allowed to take the law into their own hands.
Zardari also called for protecting the vulnerable sections of society from any misuse of the blasphemy law.
