Sixteen rescued from collapsed tunnel in China

Beijing - Sixteen workers have been rescued from a collapsed expressway tunnel in China, more than 40 hours after they were trapped, authorities said Tuesday.

The under-construction tunnel collapsed around 10 p.m. Sunday in Longnan county of Jiangxi province. The tunnel is part of a 3,400-km expressway, Xinhua reported.

The rescued workers were in stable condition.
