Obama campaign surpasses 4 million individual donors

Washington - President Barack Obama’s campaign has said that it has broken a presidential campaign record with more than four million individual donors.

Jeremy Bird, field director for the Obama campaign, told supporters about the record in an e-mail thanking donors for their help and also to solicit more funds.

“This is all possible because of more than 4 million people -- about 1 in 75 Americans -- owning a piece of this campaign,” he wrote.

"That's a record for American politics,” Politico quoted Bird, as writing.

According to the report, Obama’s 181 million dollars in September campaign fundraising brings its total raised in this election cycle to almost 950 million dollars, with another month left until Election Day.
