Pak agencies planning massive operation against militant hubs in Lahore outskirts

Lahore, Mar.18 (ANI): Following the recovery of a huge cache of arms and explosives from different part of Lahore, security agencies are planning a massive operation to bust 'militant hubs' situated in the outskirts of the provincial capital.

According to sources, law enforcement agencies are charting out a comprehensive plan targeting extremists hideouts in and around Lahore instead of conducting individual raids.

Police officials said they have received information regarding two high profile militants trying to enter Lahore using these militant hubs.

They also admitted that bringing weapons and explosives into these areas and then transferring them to the main town was very easy since militants hid in these 'friendly' locations and enter the city when officials at checkposts change their shifts.

Moreover, a majority of residents of these areas have transportation related jobs, which makes the work of transferring explosives and arms even easier.

"The region surrounding Lahore could be the main hub for importing weapons and ammunition into the city, as more over thousand trucks continuously travel across the country from the area," The Daily Times quoted an official, as saying. (ANI)
