Seemingly unfazed at being ousted from the Asian Athletics Association, scam-tainted Suresh Kalmadi on Monday said losing the presidential re-election bid to Qatar’s Dahlan Jumaan Al-Hamad has actually given him a chance to work at the “grassroots” level.
“I have no issues today and I congratulate Mr Al-Hamad for being elected as President. I am rather relieved that I will be able to work at the grassroots level in athletics,” Mr. Kalmadi said after losing the vote during the ongoing AAA Congress in Pune.

Pak Taliban claims responsibility for Bannu blast, condemns attack on Mullah Nazir

Peshawar - The Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed responsibility for the blast carried out in Bannu on Tuesday.

The blast had reportedly taken place near the house of Kainat, one of the girls who was injured during the Taliban attack on 15-year-old education campaigner Malala Yousufzai.

TTP spokesman Ehsanullah Ehsan, however, said the outfit was not involved in last week's attack on pro-government and anti-US Taliban leader Mullah Nazir. He condemned the attack on Nazir and said he was part of the Ittehad-i-Shura-Mujahideen, of which the TTP was also a member, reports The Dawn.

Ehsan further said that although the TTP has organisational differences with Mullah Nazir, there are no ideological differences between the groups.
