Seemingly unfazed at being ousted from the Asian Athletics Association, scam-tainted Suresh Kalmadi on Monday said losing the presidential re-election bid to Qatar’s Dahlan Jumaan Al-Hamad has actually given him a chance to work at the “grassroots” level.
“I have no issues today and I congratulate Mr Al-Hamad for being elected as President. I am rather relieved that I will be able to work at the grassroots level in athletics,” Mr. Kalmadi said after losing the vote during the ongoing AAA Congress in Pune.

Abuja - At least three people were killed and two injured in a suicide bomb attack Wednesday in Nigeria's Maiduguri city, Xinhua reported. The dead included the suicide bomber.

The suicide bomber, suspected of links to the Boko Haram sect, targeted a patrol team in morning at post office round about in Maiduguri metropolis, said Sagir Musa, spokesperson for the Joint Task Force.

Maiduguri, located in Nigeria's northeastern region, is a Boko Haram flashpoint, where the Nigerian government had to impose curfews following a wave of militant attacks.

The Human Rights Watch, in its latest report said, over 1,500 people, including women and children, have been killed in various attacks by the Boko Haram sect since 2009.
