Seemingly unfazed at being ousted from the Asian Athletics Association, scam-tainted Suresh Kalmadi on Monday said losing the presidential re-election bid to Qatar’s Dahlan Jumaan Al-Hamad has actually given him a chance to work at the “grassroots” level.
“I have no issues today and I congratulate Mr Al-Hamad for being elected as President. I am rather relieved that I will be able to work at the grassroots level in athletics,” Mr. Kalmadi said after losing the vote during the ongoing AAA Congress in Pune.

Former First Lady Laura Bush pro-gay marriage ad removed after protest

Washington - Laura Bush who appeared in a pro-gay marriage ad along with other high profile political figures, including President Barack Obama, wants herself to be removed from it after the Former First Lady said she was included in it without permission.

Bush was one of several public figures, including Obama and Dick Cheney, who make cameos in a new ad campaign by the Respect for Marriage Coalition.

According to the New York Daily News, Bush’s appearance in the ad came from an appearance she made on CNN in 2010.

At the time, she said that ‘when couples are committed to each other and love each other then they ought to have the same sort of rights that everyone has’.

But Bush asked that she be removed from the ad, according to The Dallas Morning Newslaura.

Spokeswoman Anne MacDonald said that Bush ‘did not approve of her inclusion in this advertisement nor is she associated with the group that made the ad in any way’.

She added that ‘when she became aware of the advertisement, we requested that the group remove her from it’.

The Respect for Marriage Coalition soon relented, saying it would use ‘new and different voices’.

The group said that they used public comments for the ad from American leaders who have expressed support for civil marriage.

It added that they appreciate Bush’s previous comments, but are sorry she didn’t want to be included in an ad."

The ad, backed by a one-million dollars campaign on TV, in print and online, argues that ‘a growing majority of Americans believe it's time to allow marriage for gay and lesbian couples,’ the report added.
