Auckland (IANS)- A 51-year-old former New Zealand pilot will attempt an adventure ride on a jet ski from London to New Zealand, a distance of about 32,000 km, to spread awareness on cancer.

Jeremy Burfoot will set out from the Thames Aug 1 and plans to spend up to 12 hours a day for four months riding the vehicle to the southern hemisphere, the New Zealand Herald reported.

Four other adventurers will accompany him on the journey that will touch places like Turkey, Yemen, Oman, Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Indonesia and Australia.

Burfoot, who circumnavigated New Zealand on a jet ski in 2005, said his wife called him an "idiot".

He hopes the journey would be completed by November.
