A friend as your sex partner?

A friend as your sex partner?A recent poll conducted by the Daily Mail revealed that about only eight per cent of women have slept with a friend in the hope that it would develop into something more. Are you willing to join the league?

Seema Shankar, 26, media professional says, "There is nothing wrong in indulging into a physical relationship if you love someone deeply. But the consequences are that more often than not it might not develop into something more but one needs to be prepared for that."

With two recent films bordering on the same lines, Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake in 'Friends with Benefits' and Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher in 'No Strings Attached' complicate the tired idea. What the movies represent is a discomfort with a variety of sexual desires that a woman has and that those desires don't always involve long-term commitment or monogamy.

Shubham Mitra, 27, writer, says, "In college, I did get into this phase where I got involved physically with a friend of mine. It was a give and take relationship that we shared and she was quite okay with it. Once college got over, both of us moved on."

You might at some point of time find yourself attracted to a friend, and as long as both the individuals understand the terms of the sexual relationship you are in - no one gets hurt.
Misha Shah, 31, advertisement professional, says, "While it might work for some women, it does not work for me at all. And here comes the difference between having sex for fun and love making. Thus, we need to choose what we want and why we want and face the repercussions associated with it."

This is backed by various types of emotional fallouts. The most common one being that when friends get too attached, they begin wanting some more and get emotionally involved.

Neha Pavithran, 26, MBA student says, "Though it seems to be the easiest way to stay with the guy you love, in the end the consequence is different and hurtful. Not only does it spoil the friendship shared between two individuals but also causes heartache that you might never be able to overcome."
