London - Russian women tackled a 50-metre sprint wearing shoes with a minimum height of 3.5 inches to win a 2,000-pound prize at Moscow’s annual stiletto race.
While fitness fanatic Marina Tuktamysheva took home the prize money, many others failed to even make it to the end of the track.
The crowd gasped as several women came crashing to the floor, suffering scrapes and bumps.
But fortunately, the ladies had taped up their ankles to prevent a fall doing any serious damage to their body’s.
“I really love sport, I always keep fit wherever I am,†the Sun quoted Tuktamysheva as saying.
“I love having a beautiful body and I love sport in all its aspects,†she said.
Victoria Bukharkina, publisher of Glamour magazine, which had organized the odd event, commented on the race.
“This is a great way for us to see and meet the girls who buy our magazine every month in person,†she said.
“This is a great holiday which unites fashion, sports, a good mood and trends and gives us the opportunity to talk to each other,†she added.
