North Korea's military on Tuesday threatened the South with imminent "sledge-hammer" retaliation unless Seoul apologised for anti-Pyongyang protestors burning effigies of its revered leaders.South Korea called the North's ultimatum "regrettable" and vowed a tough response to any military provocation.
Los Angeles - Talk show queen Oprah Winfrey has been voted the world's highest paid celebrity after banking $165 million in the past year.
She has left behind directors Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg in a survey by Forbes magazine. The news comes just days after she was listed as the 11th most powerful woman in the world in another survey by the same publication.
Winfrey's annual earnings from May 2011 to May 2012 edged out filmmaker Bay, who scored second place with $160 million.
Spielberg was at third with $130 million, while Hollywood producer Jerry Bruckheimer was at fourth slot with $115 million and rap mogul Dr. Dre rounded up the top five with an earning of $110 million.
Other big earners included director Tyler Perry and reality TV guru Simon Cowell, while the only other woman in the top 20 was Britney Spears, placed at 20th slot.
