London - MAC cosmetics, which has collaborated with everyone from singer Beth Ditto to artist Cindy Sherman, has now teamed up with the beloved Archie Comics for its newest limited-edition collection.
Echoing the comic book series’ plot that sees Betty and Veronica vying for Archie’s affections, the new line is called Archie’s Girls, the Daily Mail reported.
The line has been split in two color palettes, one for the girly-girl Betties and the other for the brazen Veronicas.
“Betty and Veronica - the names alone are a vivid four-color flashback to an era of sweet, comic book innocence,†the Daily Mail quoted the cosmetics company as saying in a statement.
Products branded with the face of Betty - known for her bright blonde hair and girl-next-door persona - include nail polish, lipstick, lip gloss and blush in bubble gum pinks and sugar sweet coral hues.
The Betty makeup items all have wholesome names like ‘Girl Next Door,’ ‘Summer Sweetheart’ and ‘Kiss and Don’t Tell.’
Products branded with Veronica’s face come in rich purple and navy hues, reflecting the spoiled and vivacious brunette’s vamped-up style.
Veronica lipstick is aptly called ‘Boyfriend Stealer,’ and her dark nail polish hues come in ‘Past Curfew’ and ‘Double Trouble.’
The line features specially designed makeup brushes and bags, compact mirrors and totes, inspired by the all-American comic book characters.
