Pit Bull caught mounting male dog branded `gay`

New York -  A Pit Bull, whose owner sent him to a Tennessee pound after catching him mounting another male dog, was saved from being euthanized on Thursday.

Dog-lover Stephanie Fryns, moved by the plight of the Pit bull, adopted the pooch with just hours to spare and named him after gay musician Elton John, the New York Daily News reported.

A worker at the Jackson Madison Rabies Control Centre told the Nashville Tennessean newspaper that he still can’t fathom why the original owner put the Pit bull in the pound as dogs get on top of each other sometimes.

“A male mounting another male is thus not displaying homosexual tendencies, but is simply saying, ‘I’m boss around here,’” animal expert Stanley Coren said in Psychology Today.

The drama began on Tuesday when Elton’s owner, who lives near rural Jackson, Tennessee, caught his dog in the act.

When word got out that the dog was about to die for doing the act, animal rescuers posted Elton’s story on Facebook, where it went viral.
