Villagers lynch criminal in Madhya Pradesh

Bhopal, (IANS) A criminal, wanted in several cases and carrying a reward on his head, was beaten to death by villagers after he assaulted some people in Madhya Pradesh's Shajapur district, police said Sunday.

"Gokul Singh, who had a reward of Rs.25,000 on his head, indulged in violence late Saturday night and when some people tried to stop him, Singh beat them up," Shajapur district's Additional Superintendent of Police Ramji Shrivastava told IANS.

The angry villagers then beat him up with sticks, killing him on the spot, the police official said.

Police have registered a case and are investigating.
