Bihar ignores Maoist threats to celebrate R-Day

Patna, Jan 26 (IANS) Maoist and terrorist threats didn't deter people in Bihar from celebrating India's 61st Republic Day as Governor Devanand Kunwar hoisted the tricolour amid tight security at an impressive march past here Tuesday morning.

Celebrations went on peacefully across the state with unfurling of the national flag at various district headquarters.

Thousands of people, including women and children, participated in the celebrations.

The governor in his address at Gandhi Maidan lauded the developmental efforts of the state government and praised it for controlling crime in Bihar.
