New Delhi - Two people were arrested for making and supplying spurious ayurvedic medicines in Uttar Pradesh and Delhi, police said Wednesday.

Kapil Vaish, 29, resident of Badayun in Uttar Pradesh, was arrested near the Red Fort in Delhi Dec 22. Vikram Singh, 38, hailing from Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh, was arrested Dec 23.

They had a manufacturing unit in Bareilly. “Around 30 boxes of spurious Regulin Forte and 60 boxes of spurious Recharge Plus were recovered from the possession of the accused,” said Deputy Commissioner of police (crime branch) Ashok Chand.

Singh is a primary school dropout. He worked at the drug factory at night after his day job. U. Khan, a factory owner suspected to be involved in the racket, is on the run.
