Jaipur - The Rajasthan Police have arrested the main accused in a multi-million fraud and his wife from Bangkok with Interpol's help and brought them back to Jaipur, officials said Sunday.

The man, identified as Narendra Kanwar, is accused of swindling Rs.2,000 million from thousands of people in Rajasthan and many other states on the pretext of investing in his multi-level marketing firm, named Gold Sukh. His wife Saroj Kanwar was also an accomplice, said police.

According to the police, a red-corner notice had been issued against Kanwar after it was found that he was hiding in Bangkok.

"Narendra was being searched for the past two months after his company was busted by the police. A total of 17 people associated with the firm had already been arrested," a police officer said.

He added that Kanwar duped people by promising unrealistic returns on their investment.

As the red-corner notice had been issued, he was deported to India from Bangkok.

"He was arrested from Indira Gandhi International Airport at New Delhi Sunday and was brought to Jaipur by the police. He will be produced in a court Monday," said the officer.
