Bhopal - An eight-year-old boy who was made to bathe in cold water for hours at a tableau put up for the Republic Day parade in Dewas district said Monday that he was promised snacks and Rs.5 in return for the act.
The child, named Sunny, said that a bald man, Babulal Mandloi, contacted him.
“I had gone to watch jhanki (tableaux) with my aunty. One bald man came and told me he would give me snacks and Rs.5 if I take bath in the jhanki,” said Sunny.
The Republic Day parade tableau of Dewas Municipal Corporation had a theme linked to water. It depicted a person opening the tap of a water tank and an eight-year-old child taking a bath under it.
After some photo-journalists noticed the plight of the child, stripped to the waist and bathing under the tap and shivering in the winter chill, they asked the authorities to take him off from this live demonstration of the civic body's ample water supply.
However, the Ujjain administration has yet to take action on the issue so far.
