Mercury dips, chilly Tuesday in Delhi

New Delhi -  The minimum temperature in Delhi Tuesday morning dipped to 4.4 degrees Celsius -- four notches below average -- making for a chilly start to the day that is expected to be pleasant. The evening is likely to be cold.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said the maximum temperature is expected to be around 23 degrees Celsius. "It will be a sunny day and the sky will be clear," an official told IANS.

Visibility was 800 metres in the morning with shallow fog enveloping the city.

Monday's minimum temperature was 7.3 degrees, a notch below average, and the maximum was 22.2 degrees - a notch above average.
