Shimla - The cold wave is likely to grip Himachal Pradesh again with heavy rain and snow forecast in the next two days by the Met office here Friday.

"Certain areas are likely to experience heavy spells of snow and rain till Sunday," a meteorological department statement said.

It said chances of snow in the upper reaches of Shimla, Kullu, Kinnaur, Lahaul and Spiti, Sirmaur and Chamba districts are high.

The Met department’s forecast said the western disturbances - storm systems originating from the Mediterranean Sea and moving across the Afghanistan-Pakistan region - would remain active in the region till Feb 7.

Meanwhile, Keylong in Lahaul and Spiti district was the coldest town in the state with a low of minus 10.3 degrees Celsius.

The minimum temperatures in Shimla and Manali were 5.5 degrees and 0.6 degrees, respectively.

Kalpa, some 250 km from Shimla, saw the night temperature at minus 1.6 degrees Celsius.
