New Delhi - Welcoming a special court's verdict to dismiss Janata Party chief Subramanian Swamy's plea to make Home Minister P. Chidambaram an accused in the 2G spectrum allocation case, the Congress said it should end any speculation on the matter.
"The court has spoken... the matter ends there," Congress spokesperson Manish Tiwari told NDTV.
"There is nothing for the government to be ashamed of or own moral responsibility," he added.
Tiwari said the Supreme Court had earlier cleared Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Chidambaram in the matter.
He said that as a member of the joint parliamentary committee, looking into the 2G scam, he would say that the views of the apex court on the prime minister and the home minister were correct.
"The SC has said that the first come first served policy under which 2G licences were issued under the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government earlier was faulty," the Congress spokesperson said.
He said the apex court did not say anything on the Rs 1.76 lakh crore national loss calculated by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India in the case.
