Gandhis resorting to theatrics: Sushma

Friday - Feb 17, 2012, 05:50pm (GMT+5.5)

Lucknow - Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sushma Swaraj Friday accused the Gandhi family of indulging in theatrics and 'filmi masala' to gain public support in the Uttar Pradesh elections.

Taking pot-shots at Priyanka and Rahul Gandhi, the BJP leader said they were resorting to "full blown drama on a well-made script" to confuse and influence the voters.

Recounting how Priyanka pinched her mother Sonia Gandhi's cheek at a public meeting and how an angry Rahul Gandhi tore off a paper carrying assurances of opposition parties at a Lucknow rally, the BJP leader told reporters that drama would not win the Congress any sympathy in the state.

She added that ground realities favoured the BJP and she was confident her party would win a majority and form a government in Uttar Pradesh.

The Congress and BJP are two of the main actors in Uttar Pradesh, apart from the Samajwadi Party and the ruling Bahujan Samaj Party.
