Rahul did not violate poll code, says Congress

New Delhi -  The Congress Monday denied that party general secretary Rahul Gandhi violated the Election Commission's model code of conduct during his campaign programme in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur city.

“There was neither a procession, nor a rally,” Congress spokesman Abhishek Manu Singhvi said.

“It was only a 'jan sampark (public contact) ' programme and there was absolutely neither the intention, or actual violation of any code of conduct or any other rule,” he said.

Gandhi's road show ran into trouble with Kanpur district authorities, who said the road show breached the permitted roadmap approved for it.
