Seemingly unfazed at being ousted from the Asian Athletics Association, scam-tainted Suresh Kalmadi on Monday said losing the presidential re-election bid to Qatar’s Dahlan Jumaan Al-Hamad has actually given him a chance to work at the “grassroots” level.
“I have no issues today and I congratulate Mr Al-Hamad for being elected as President. I am rather relieved that I will be able to work at the grassroots level in athletics,” Mr. Kalmadi said after losing the vote during the ongoing AAA Congress in Pune.

Report on orphanage sex abuse in 10 days: Dikshit

Panaji -  The report on investigation into the sexual abuse and harassment case at the privately-run Arya Orphanage in the city will be completed within the next 10 days, Delhi Chief Minister  Sheila Dikshit said Friday.

"We have ordered an enquiry into the incident. We expect the enquiry to be completed in a week or ten days maximum," said Dikshit, who was here to campaign for the Congress ahead of  the March 3 Goa assembly polls.

Incidence of sexual harassment at the orphanage came to light after an 11-year-old girl died after she was repeatedly raped.

NGOs have also alleged that other children at the orphanage were also sexually molested by the staffers. The chief warden of the orphanage has already been arrested by Delhi Police.

The Delhi government had subsequently ordered an inquiry into the incident.
