Seemingly unfazed at being ousted from the Asian Athletics Association, scam-tainted Suresh Kalmadi on Monday said losing the presidential re-election bid to Qatar’s Dahlan Jumaan Al-Hamad has actually given him a chance to work at the “grassroots” level.
“I have no issues today and I congratulate Mr Al-Hamad for being elected as President. I am rather relieved that I will be able to work at the grassroots level in athletics,” Mr. Kalmadi said after losing the vote during the ongoing AAA Congress in Pune.

Porn Gate: Congress lawmakers stall proceedings in Gujarat Assembly

Ahmedabad - Opposition Congress lawmakers on Friday stalled proceedings in the Gujarat State Assembly, forcing the Speaker to adjournfor the third consecutive day over the porn gate issue.

Congress legislators continued to demand the dismissal of two BJP MLAs who have been accused of watching porn in the House.

As soon as Question Hour began, the Congress MLAs indulged in slogan shouting "dismiss those viewing nude clips in the House".

They left their seats and gathered in the Well of the House near the Speaker’s podium.

"Please let the House function and kindly take your seats," Gujarat Speaker Ganpat Vasava said.

But the members continued shouting and throwing paper in the air for around five minutes.

Vasava had to adjourn proceedings till the end of Question Hour.

On Thursday, the Gujarat Assembly was adjourned four times due to an uproar over the issue.

All Congress MLAs were later suspended for the day, for disrupting the House proceedings.

BJP MLAs Shankar Chaudhary and Jetha Bharwad are under scanner for allegedly watching obscene pictures during the House proceedings.

On March 20, Radhanpur MLA Chaudhary and fellow BJP MLA from Shera Bharward were seen spending time on a tablet during the House proceedings and it is alleged that they were watching obscene pictures of women.

Vasava has already ordered a probe by the Privileges Committee into the unsavoury episode, after asking the Assembly secretary to confiscate Chaudhary’s i-pad/tablet and send it for forensic test.

The two BJP MLAs have denied the charges and alleged that this was a conspiracy to malign them and their party.
