New Delhi - Metro services in the capital will begin an hour earlier from the normal start of 6 a.m. to facilitate the staff deputed for conducting the elections to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), an official here said.
"In order to facilitate the poll officers reach the polling stations on time, the Delhi Metro will start its services 5 a.m., which is one hour prior from the usual scheduled time 6 a.m.," a Metro official said Wednesday.
The civic body polls will have about 12,000 polling stations, which will be located in 2,700 buildings and 70,000 polling personnel will be deployed.
"The services on all six lines of the Delhi Metro will run with a frequency of 15 minutes till 6 a.m., after which it will run with a normal frequency throughout the day," the Metro official added.
