Thane (Maharashtra) - Four people, two fathers and their daughters, drowned when they missed their footing and slipped into the reservoir of Maharashtra's Musai dam, police said Monday.
Burannudin Akbarali Lokhandwala, 42, and Ismail Alihussain Ujjainwala, 32, had gone to the site of Musai dam in Sahapur, about 80 km from here, with their daughters when tragedy struck Sunday evening. Lokhandwala's 11-year-old daughter Maria and Ujjainwala's 10-year-old daughter Farida were also killed.
Two bodies were recovered Sunday, while the other two bodies were fished out only Monday, police said.
"The incident happened Sunday evening when the group had gone to Khinawali in Sahapur for some personal work. They stopped by at the nearby Musai dam and four of them slipped and fell into the dam," an official from the district's Khinawali police station told IANS.
Police have registered a case of accidental death.
Last week, in Bhiwandi in the district, the bodies of a mother and her four children were found floating in a river near the town.
