Shimla - Over hundred Pakistani traders showcased their collection of intricate apparel designs and patterns in 32 different stalls at the five-day Indo-Pakistan trade fair here.
Interacting with reporters on Monday, Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Prem Singh Dhumal said the expo would strengthen trade relations between the two nations.
"If people from different countries understand each other, it will certainly mend political relations and improve trade relations. It is best to involve the common man and give impetus to trade and commerce. Bilateral relations between both nations can prosper in such an environment," Dhumal said.
Vice President of Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Iqbal Ahmed stressed upon the need for regional cooperation to improve bilateral unity.
"Trade fairs like these give us an opportunity to come closer to each other as we share similar social and cultural heritage. Regional cooperation and connectivity is the need of the hour.
Both the countries should sit together and forge a path for mutual cooperation. India and Pakistan should communicate their needs and demands and work towards achieving those," he said.
Afghanistan, Egypt, Korea and Canada are the other participants in the expo that culminates on June 07.
