New Delhi - The Congress Working Committee - the party's apex decision-making body - began it's meeting here Monday. The meeting has been convened to bid farewell to veteran party leader and presidential candidate Pranab Mukherjee.

Besides Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi, other senior Congress leaders were present in the meeting. With this meeting, the curtains will formally come down on Mukherjee's nearly five-decade-long association with the Congress.

The meeting was attended by all the CWC members barring four, among them Ghulam Nabi Azad and Digvijaya Singh.

Mukherjee will quit the CWC after the meeting. Before he steps down as finance minister, Mukherjee, on his last day in office, is expected to announce some measures to boost the economy.
