Maoists kill former tribal ward member in Odisha

Koraput -  Maoists killed a former tribal ward member in Odisha's Koraput District suspecting him to be on a police informer.

"A group of armed ultras struck at the house of Pidika Sarbo at Gumaroput village late last night and took him away," said Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Y.J. Rao.

The officer that the ultras slit Pidika Sarbo's throat and dumped his body on the outskirts of the village before disappearing into dense forest.

The body of 55-year-old Pidika was later found by the villagers.

According to reports, the ultras killed Pidika, a former panchayat ward member, as they suspected him of passing information about their activities to the local police.
