In a huge sigh of relief for Indian boxer Vijender Singh, National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) announced on Tuesday that the boxer has tested negative in the drug test.
New Delhi - A large number of Kannada writers, artists and academicians of the national capital recalled the contribution of Jayadevi Taayi, a distinguished poet of the Kannada language and a leader of the Karnataka unification campaign, at a function to mark her birth centenary here today.
Inaugurating the celebration, organised by ' Dehali Kannadiga', a Kannada monthly published from Delhi, its editor M.B. Samaga said Jayadevi Taayi started a new era in Kannada language poetry through her Siddarama Purana, a Mahakavya in the language, and other writings.
Samaga also noted that Jayadevi Taayi played a major role championing the cause of a one Kannada state for all Kannada people in the Kannada speaking areas of the former princely state of Hyderabad.
Jayadevi Taayi was also the first woman to preside over the All India Kannada Literary Conference at its meet in Mandya in 1974.
