Srinagar - Markets here witnessed a flurry of activity on Saturday, as shoppers engaged themselves purchasing items, ahead of Eid-Ul-Fitr, which marks the culmination of 'Ramadan', a month long religious fast observed by the Muslims.
Commercial centres and local markets have been decorated to allure customers .
The prominent commercial centres witnessed heavy rush, with serpentine queues dotting the markets.
Shops selling ready-made garments, textiles, footwear, jewellery, pearls, bangles, 'ittar' (natural perfumes) and crockery, cutlery, upholstery were flooded with buyers.
Shopkeepers have slashed prices, much to the joy of the customers.
Interacting with media persons here, Mohammad Amin, a bakery shop owner said, “The rush is good, and we have slashed the prices.â€
The festival brought liveliness to the atmosphere and people shared their happiness with each other.
"The markets are very lively, there are shoppers all around, buying whatever they need. There is happiness all around, and people share their joy with others," said Shabir Ahmad, a local.
This year the Ramadan commenced from July 20 and would conclude with the festival of Eid-ul-Fitr on August 20, depending on the sighting of the moon.
