Kolkata - Well-known designer Rohit Bal, known for his signature peacock and lotus motifs, wishes to dress up Riya Sen whom he describes as "the most beautiful face".
"Riya has not got her due credit in the film industry. But she has the most beautiful face I have ever seen. She is a typical Bengali beauty. I would love to dress her up," Bal told IANS at an event here.
However, he considers Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor as the best dressed person in the country.
Asked about the Bengali beauty he adores the most irrespective of age, Bal replied: "Obviously it's Riya's grandmother, Suchitra Sen."
The ace designer thinks Delhi Couture Week "is becoming an important fashion event in the country".
"The best part of the show was that I was not participating. I was chilling out, watching all the shows and having a great time. I am happy to be a part of it by not being a part of it," he said.
He was here to inaugurate Veda, his signature restaurant at Park Street. The eatery specialises in North West Frontier and Mughlai cuisines and he summed up the fine dining experience there as "opulent" and "decadent".
Kolkata is set to see a lot more of the fashion icon who thinks: "Fashion in Kolkata is intellectual, subdued and subtle due to its roots and culture. It is about the strength of women, the strong personality of women, but it is not loud."
Giving a sneak-peek into his itinerary in Kolkata, he said: "I am actually planning on opening a small workshop here. Get a good team of craftsmen from Bengal.
That's my plan for this trip."
