Arvind Kejriwal wants Delhi Police to take action against "corrupt ministers"

Arvind Kejriwal wants Delhi Police to take action against Noida - Former Team Anna member Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday accused the Delhi Police of having become a slave of the UPA Government at the Centre and not taking firm action against the 15 "corrupt ministers".

Kejriwal has called for a 'gherao' of the residences of Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Nitin Gadkari on Sunday.

He has been told by the Delhi Police not to violate laws.

"It was the responsibility of the Delhi Police to register FIR against the 15 corrupt ministers and arrest them. Delhi Police did not do its work. Today, the Delhi Police has become a slave of this corrupt government and corrupt system," said Kejriwal.

"We pay taxes, the poor people of this country pay taxes. And the Delhi Police is imposing restrictions on us, it says that we can't stage a protest," he added.

As per the directions received from the Delhi Police, six Metro stations, including Patel Chowk, Central Secretariat, Udyog Bhawan, Jor Bagh, Race Course (on Line-2, HUDA City Centre to Jahangirpuri) and Khan Market Metro station (on Line-6, Central Secretariat to Badarpur) will be closed for public from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.

"This clearly shows that the government is in immense fear. What does freedom means? It means that we have the freedom to speak and roam freely inside the country, but the two have been curtailed. You cannot send SMS, you cannot make calls, you cannot use Facebook and Twitter," said Kejriwal.

"You even can't roam freely within the country. Metro has been closed and I have even heard that the trains entering Delhi from outside will be stopped.  What sort of behaviour is this?" he asked.

When asked to comment on the difference of opinion with former IPS officer Kiran Bedi, who has expressed apprehension over targeting all parties on the coal block allocations, Kejriwal said: "Kiran Bedi is with us. There may be two opinions on any issue. Her viewpoint is a little bit different, but we welcome it."

"She has raised a very important question that whether the situation in the country would improve if the Congress is removed and BJP is brought back to power.

Can BJP and Samajwadi Party give a very bright future? So, Anna had to give this political alternative," he added.

"I fully support Arvind's call for Jantar Mantar rally. While I feel we need to focus on the party in power, I respect his and others view to cover all!" Bedi tweeted this morning.

Bedi also said that closing metro stations to make it inconvenient for people to come to Jantar Mantar rally was 'completely undemocratic'.

Services at six metro stations in the national capital will be closed from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday in view of the threatened demonstrations at the residence of the Prime Minister and BJP President in protest against the 'coalgate scam'.
