Noida, (IANS) A 23-year-old employee of a call centre in Noida was allegedly murdered by her team leader, jealous over her dumping him for another man, police said Thursday.
The incident came to light when family members of Pooja Jaiswal, missing since March 1, received information Wednesday night about her body recovered from the waters of Badhkal Lake in the Surajkund area of Faridabad.
According to Noida police, Pooja's body was found by Faridabad police in the Badhkal Lake waters near dense vegetation area March 3.
Her family members said Pooja had gone from her house to near Summervilla School where her team leader Daljeet Singh had called her for a "Holi party". He also reportedly asked Pooja not to bring her identity card and purse.
"When she did not return till next day, we got a missing complaint lodged at Sector-24 police station on March 2 night," Pooja's brother-in-law Dalip Bhatia said.
On the same day, Pooja's family members met Daljeet Singh and asked him about her whereabouts but he enied any knowledge about her.
Superintendent of Police (City) Ashok Kumar Tripathi said: "A case of murder had been registered at Sector-24 on family's complaint against Daljeet Singh and another colleague Sandeep Srivastava. Daljeet has been arrested. He
objected to the girl's affair with another person."
Sandeep, according to the family, had worked in the team and had knowledge about Daljeet's proximity to Pooja but still did not reveal to anybody.
Sector 24 police station Inspector B.R. Verma said: "Daljeet has confessed to murder. The girl had an affair with a boy named Amit Chauhan and Daljeet was jealous. He took her to Surajkund March 1 evening, where they had a
heated argument following which he pushed her into Badkal Lake."
