In a huge sigh of relief for Indian boxer Vijender Singh, National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) announced on Tuesday that the boxer has tested negative in the drug test.
The Supreme Court today issued notices to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, State of West Bengal and others on a petition challenging the appointment of Dr Sukumar Mukherjee as advisor to the state government on health matters.
A bench comprising Justices R M Lodha and Anil R Dave issued notices on the petition filed by Kunal Saha whose wife had died due to alleged medical negligence by Dr Mukherjee. Saha's counsel argued that Dr Mukherjee had earlier been indicted by the apex court for negligence in treatment.
A person who has been found negligent in discharging his duties as a doctor by this court cannot be appointed as chief advisor to the state government on health matters, he added.
