Ahmedabad, Mar 15 (ANI): The Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) have taken into their custody a suspected militant of Hizbul Mujahideen terror outfit.

Acting on intelligence inputs, a raid was conducted and Bashir Baba, a resident of Srinagar was arrested. Bashir had come to Ahmedabad for training with an NGO.

"After reaching Ahmedabad instead of taking interest in medical camps and other events, he was found to be involved in suspicious activities like setting up of network, meeting people, getting in touch on phone or through email with his handlers," said Gujarat ATS chief Ajay Tomar.

An alert has however been issued in the country following intelligence reports that some militant outfits are planning attack in major cities.

Earlier on Sunday (March 14), the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) arrested two people in Mumbai, who were allegedly plotting to blow up storage tanks of the state-run Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) and other vital installations. (ANI)
