Seemingly unfazed at being ousted from the Asian Athletics Association, scam-tainted Suresh Kalmadi on Monday said losing the presidential re-election bid to Qatar’s Dahlan Jumaan Al-Hamad has actually given him a chance to work at the “grassroots” level.
“I have no issues today and I congratulate Mr Al-Hamad for being elected as President. I am rather relieved that I will be able to work at the grassroots level in athletics,” Mr. Kalmadi said after losing the vote during the ongoing AAA Congress in Pune.

Raipur - BJP leader Saroj Pandey, who was Sunday appointed the chief of the party's Mahila Morcha (woman front), said she will try to do her best in the new role.

"It's a challenging responsibility, I will surely do the best to perform for the party and will raise women's issues more strongly and vigorously," Pandey, MP from Durg in Chhattisgarh, told IANS over phone.

The 45-year-old Pandey who is known as a seasoned politician in Chhattisgarh, added: "I will surely try to live up to expectations of the party president and each and every cadre of the party."

His 76-member new team has 12 vice-presidents, 10 general secretaries, 15 secretaries and seven spokespersons, besides a 12-member Central Parliamentary Board, a 19-member Central Election Committee and a five-member Central Disciplinary Committee.
