Seemingly unfazed at being ousted from the Asian Athletics Association, scam-tainted Suresh Kalmadi on Monday said losing the presidential re-election bid to Qatar’s Dahlan Jumaan Al-Hamad has actually given him a chance to work at the “grassroots” level.
“I have no issues today and I congratulate Mr Al-Hamad for being elected as President. I am rather relieved that I will be able to work at the grassroots level in athletics,” Mr. Kalmadi said after losing the vote during the ongoing AAA Congress in Pune.

Ghaziabad - Angry townmen resorted to violence on Saturday, after two people died in a road accident in Ghaziabad.

The accident occurred when a speeding truck crushed two persons riding on motorbike at a highway in the Loni area of Ghaziabad.

The irate mob pelted stones at the local police.

According to media reports, police had to resort to a baton charge to disperse the mob.

Protesters also damaged a truck and several vehicles, and causing extensive damage to property in the area.

Every year, between 150,000 and 200,000 people are killed in road accidents in India.

Road accidents are common in India, where roads are often of poor quality. Transport department officials blame the surge in road accidents to reckless driving and untrained drivers.
