New Delhi (IANS)- Despite making a specific request, British Prime Minister David Cameron did not get to have a meeting with United Progressive Alliance chairperson Sonia Gandhi, who is said to be "out of station".

Officials said that Britain had specifically asked India to schedule meetings with Sonia Gandhi, as well as her son and Member of Parliament, Rahul Gandhi.

But, party sources said that no meeting was scheduled as Sonia Gandhi "was out of station." There was also no scheduled meeting with Rahul Gandhi.

Sonia Gandhi, as the head of the ruling alliance, usually has courtesy meetings with visiting dignitaries.

Cameron however met the Leader of Opposition Sushma Swaraj, Vice President, Mohammad Hamid Ansari and External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna.

He held formal discussions with the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
