New Delhi (ANI): Union Home Minister P Chidamabaram on Friday said the situation in Jammu and Kashmir is not yet normal.

Talking to reporters here after presenting his report card for July, Chidambaram said he still favours a quiet dialogue with representatives of the Kashmir valley.

Admitting to their being an interruption in the dialogue process, he said: " There is no reservation in talking to our own people."

When asked whether the Centre is willing to hold talks with separatists groups, he said:

"I continue to meet leaders of different groups and political parties, but there has been some interruption in the process."

On Naxalism, he said: "The government was confident that the problem of Left- wing extremism would be dealt with "determination" and "overcome" in the next three years."

He further said the central government acknowledged that the primary role and responsibility was that of states in enforcing law and order in confronting the challenge of Left-wing extremists, it also recognised its responsibility in assisting the states in every way.

"The Centre was assisting the states by providing paramilitary forces and funding both development schemes and security needs," he added.
