Seemingly unfazed at being ousted from the Asian Athletics Association, scam-tainted Suresh Kalmadi on Monday said losing the presidential re-election bid to Qatar’s Dahlan Jumaan Al-Hamad has actually given him a chance to work at the “grassroots” level.
“I have no issues today and I congratulate Mr Al-Hamad for being elected as President. I am rather relieved that I will be able to work at the grassroots level in athletics,” Mr. Kalmadi said after losing the vote during the ongoing AAA Congress in Pune.

Amravati (PTI) President Pratibha Patil today hailed Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj as one of the great saints of India.

"Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj was one of those great saints who ushered in spiritual democracy in India," she said at the opening ceremony of the birth centenary celebrations of the saint at Gurukunj Ashram here.

Describing Tukdoji Maharaj as a great saint, Patil said that his public contact was stupendous.

Coordinating political, social and spiritual happenings, Rashtrasant strove to inspire people to duty, she said.

According to the President, 'Gram Gita', written by the saint, is a modern form of 'Bhagwad Gita' that blends modern thoughts with spirituality.

'Gram Gita' teaches people how to accomplish the progress of the village while accomplishing their own, she said.

Gram Gita reflects the mindset Tukdoji Maharaj of respecting old values
