New Delhi (IANS) - A seven-member delegation from the central African state of Chad is in India to boost ties, especially in the areas of hydrocarbons, minerals and agriculture.
The delegation, led by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, African integration and international cooperation, Mahamat Bechir Okormi, and including Minister of Commerce and Industry Youssouf Abassalah, arrived in Delhi Saturday on a four-day visit.
Minister of State for External Affairs Preneet Kaur met with the delegation Monday, during which both sides expressed a desire to further enhance bilateral cooperation.
"The Chadian delegation particularly emphasized the possibilities of cooperation in the areas of hydrocarbons, minerals and agriculture," said a press release issued by ministry of external affairs.
A Protocol on Foreign Office Consultations was signed by Preneet Kaur from the Indian side and Mahamat Bechir Okormi from the Chadian side.
The delegation expressed appreciation for India's Line of Credit for $50 million extended for five projects through Team-9 initiative, that comprises of eight West and Central African countries seeking to benefit in technical and economic spheres through cooperation with India.
"It (Chad) also sought more assistance for several projects which will be considered by India," said the press release.
