Panchkula (Haryana) (IANS)- At least 500 cartons of smuggled Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) worth Rs.375,000 have been seized from here and two people arrested here, police said Tuesday.

According to the police officials, following a tip-off, they intercepted a truck carrying smuggled liquor here. Police said the seized liquor is worth Rs.375,000.

"The accused were taking the smuggled liquor to different towns of Haryana. They have been identified as Krishna Kumar, a resident of Rohtak district, and Sunil Kumar, a resident of Sonepat district. Their interrogation is on," a police official said here Tuesday.

Panchkula town is around 10 km away from state capital Chandigarh. Many such instances have come to light in the recent past, as liquor is comparatively cheaper in Chandigarh as compared to neighbouring areas.
